It also serves as a place to sit for passersby,
for a blessing or as a shelter from bad weather.

It was created on the initiative of JANOŠÍK OKNA-DVEŘE.
It was designed by architect Zdeněk Fránek as a “minimalist wooden structure with clean details without any distinctive element. So that it would be humble and the view through it would stand out, framing the landscape like the most beautiful picture.”
The idea and implementation of the observatory is the Janošík family company, which manufactures windows under the hill where the Durch observatory is located. “I thought about redesigning our billboards. In the end, the desire to revolt against nature cluttered with advertising combined with our corporate philosophy of clean views. From one day to the next, we canceled all the billboards and started creating the Durch observatory with the money we saved - our support for an unobstructed view.” Jakub Janošík
Together with the Durch observatory, a well and a picture of Saint Francis, which had already fallen into disrepair, were repaired at the site. The design was also created by Fránek Architects.
